The European Development Academy uses a Moodle-based learning environment to support its work on financial-investigation training for Macedonian authorities. The platform gives participants access to guided materials, assignments, quizzes and practical tools that help them prepare for each phase of the course and return to key concepts afterwards.

For this type of training, online learning is useful, but direct work in the room remains essential. Financial investigation depends on shared judgement, discussion of cases, comparison of institutional roles and clear reporting practice. That is especially important in cross-institutional settings in the Western Balkans, where prosecutors, police, customs and financial police need to work from a common operational language.

Moodle helps participants arrive better prepared for that practical work. It creates continuity between implementation blocks, supports guided assignments and keeps working tools available after sessions end. In this way, the digital environment supports learning before and after the face-to-face parts of the programme, while the most demanding work still happens through direct interaction on cases and reporting tasks.

EDA’s online work is managed by Miha Ristič, whose police background includes Moodle course development and earlier e-learning work for Frontex. Sofija Panić supports the continuity of the course cycle and the organisational side of delivery. Together, they help ensure that the online environment remains practical, accessible and closely connected to the needs of the wider training programme.

The result is a digital learning space that supports preparation, follow-up and institutional continuity, while leaving the core of financial-investigation learning where it belongs: in practical, case-based work between institutions.
